Doing Disney with toddlers and young kids is magical…but let’s be honest-it can also be a little (or a lot) chaotic.
Between snacks, stroller naps (missed naps), meltdowns, and trying to keep everyone comfortable in the Florida heat (or unexpected cold snaps), what you pack can truly make or break your day.
The weather can vary quite a bit throughout the year — and that can seriously impact what you’ll want to bring with you. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out my Disney World Weather by Month Guide to help you plan for the exact conditions you’ll face.
So to help ease the stress of trying to navigate the unknown, I’ve compiled a list of general items that have greatly improved and simplified our time in the parks.
⚠️Disclaimer
This list is meant to be a starting point based on what has worked best for my own family after multiple trips with young kids. Feel free to adjust and build off of it based on your specific needs.
If you’re looking for more detailed recommendations and specific products I personally use and love, be sure to check out my full guide here.
With that said — here are my top 15 must-have items for a successful day at the parks with little ones:
🧾THE LIST
- ✅Lightweight Stroller:
- Easy to fold, easy to maneuver. You can also rent one if you don’t want to travel with yours.
- ✅Reusable Water Bottles:
- Staying hydrated is non-negotiable-especially in the Florida heat.
- ✅Stroller Fan/Handheld Fan
- For kids, adults, strollers-everyone.
- ✅Sunscreen☀️
- Florida sun does not play 🔥.
- ✅Stroller Caddy
- Cup holders, pockets, sanity.
- ✅Carabiners/Stroller Hooks
- Hang bas, ponchos, merch-all the things (just make sure it’s not so heavy you tip your stroller backwards! 😆)
- ✅Stroller Straps
- Keeps cups, snack containers, pacifiers, and toys from disappearing forever.
- ✅Empty Tote Bags
- Trust me-you’ll end up carrying out more than you came with (souvenirs, random shoes, half eaten snacks, hats, Mickey ears, the cute outfit you stressed over for hours that your child ended up taking off before you made it through security) 🛍️.
- ✅Blister Bandages/Moleskin
- Even the best shoes can cause issues after a long park day.
- ✅Ponchos or Small Umbrella ☂️
- Afternoon storms are basically a personality trait. And if it stays dry, the umbrella can still be used to keep the sun off you while you sit and enjoy your GIANT Mickey shaped pretzel 🥨.
- ✅Snack Bag or Small Cooler
- Snacks = fewer meltdowns. Enough said.
- ✅Change of Clothes (and maybe shoes!)
- Spills, sweat, water rides, and Moana Journey of Water can and will happen. Remind me to share my very “toddler moment” story!
- ✅Hats & Sunglasses 👒 🕶️
- Extra protection from the sun goes a low way in keeping littles (and parents) happy 👒 🕶️.
- ✅Portable Battery Pack 🔋 Lightning Lane, My Experience App, photos, fireworks, parades-your phone will not survive without this.
- ✅Hand Sanitizer + All the Wipes
- For sticky hands, messy snacks, and “what did I just put my hand in” moments.
Final Thoughts
You don’t need to bring everything — but having the right essentials can make your day so much smoother and way less stressful.
